Guo Jingjing and Wu Minxia of China took the first diving title on offer with a total of 336.90 points at the Athens Olympic Games on Saturday.

The Chinese duo beat back a strong challenge from their Russian opponents Vera Ilyina and Yulia Pakhalina who finished with a silver medal at 330.84. Australians Irina Lashko and Chantelle Newbery took the bronze at 309.30.
