China's ace shuttler Zhang Ning has rallied to defeated Dutch player Mia Audina and win the women's badminton singles final at the Athens Olympic Games.

Zhang Ning overcame a one-set deficit to beat the Indonesian-born player, who saw off China's first seed Gong Ruina in semifinal, 8-11, 11-6 and 11-7 to win China's 12th gold medal.

Her victory also gave China the first gold medal from the sport at the Games.

In the bronze medal match earlier, Zhou Mi of China defeated her teammate Gong Ruina 11-2, 8-11 and 11-6.
