Chinese Meng and Yang Book Another Final Berth in Men's C2 1,000m

Chinese Meng Guanliang and Yang Wenjun have come third in the semifinals of the canoeing men's C2 1000m.

Favored Chinese Meng Guanliang and Yang Wenjun have come third in the semifinals of the Olympic canoeing men's C2 1000m, making it through to Friday's final, their second final berth after similar success in the men's C2 500m.

Their C2 1000m semifinal was the closest race of the day with the first three qualifying boats separated by only 0.916 seconds.

Spanish Alfredo Bea and David Mascato, who placed fourth in the Sydney Olympics, won the race, edging Richard Dalton and Michael Scarola of Canada into second place.
