Meanwhile, Chinese female rower Li Ting also made it into the final of the women's K1 500m.

26-year-old Wang Bing, champion of the men's C2 500m and 1,000m at the Busan Asian Games, made it into the final with a time of 1:51.649.

Wang made history for China's canoeing as no Chinese canoeman has ever reached the final of this event in the Olympics.

Earlier, 19-year-old Li Ting also made history as no one in Chinese canoeing history has ever secured a final ticket in women's K1 500m in the Olympic Games.
