Chinese women's volleyball team has defeated Russia to win the gold medal at the Athens Olympics.

Chinese team failed in the first two rounds with 28-30,25-27. But in the following three rounds, they succeeded with 25-20,25-23 and 15-12.

This is the 31 gold medal for the Chinese delegation at the Athens Olympics.

Chinese Coach Chen Zonghe said this was a hard-won victory and it proved that they would reap the harvest if they made great efforts.

Chinese women's volleyball team won their previous Olympics gold medal 20 years ago in 1984.

Cuba defeated Brzail to get the bronze medal.
